A new paper by Kevin Queenan et al has been published in The International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents entitled ‘A One Health approach to antimicrobial resistance surveillance: is there a business case for it?’
The complex epidemiology of AMR and its surveillance is suited to a One Health approach.
A conceptual model of OH AMR surveillance is presented and current global and European surveillance systems are compared. A business case for a OH approach to AMR surveillance is made by including broader, less tangible benefits to society, animal welfare, ecosystems health and social capital building.
