Summary: Humans, companion animals, food animals, and the environment all coexist on this earth; broad global health tools are needed to ensure the health of communities. In this free online course, students will be exposed to relevant areas of One Health, One Medicine with special emphasis on ecosystem health issues. Diseases of global health importance will be covered as well as their linkages to environmental determinants. Join a community of health leaders in learning and discussing what makes our global health system tick.
What you’ll learn:
- The unique characteristics of how humans, animals, and the ecosystem interact to positively and adversely affect each other.
- The broad global health tools needed to solve health problems with an environmental emphasis.
- Communication strategies for different audiences in the context of human, animal, and environmental health.
- How to describe a health issue of global significance in terms of determinants, magnitude, prevention, and control.
- How to communicate One Health ecosystem health information to all audiences, including medical professionals.
