    Date: 16-18 July 2019

    Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

    Organiser: ESCMID

    Abstract deadline: 19 December 2018

    Summary:

It is generally recognized that control and prevention of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) requires a holistic One Health approach involving specialists from different sectors. In line with this concept, the 2nd edition of ESCMID ICOHAR will bring together representatives from the public health, medical, veterinary and food safety sectors to share research and education strategies and tools for understanding and reducing the risks of AMR from a One Health perspective. The conference aims at creating an interdisciplinary and intersectorial platform for ongoing dialogue and concerted action among scientists, professionals and policy makers interested in AMR.

  • NEOH represented at ISESSAH conference

Several NEOH members participated at the annual conference of the International Society for Economics and Social Sciences in Animal Health (ISESSAH) in Montpellier, France. On behalf of the consortium Simon Ruegg gave an oral presentation on the conclusions that could be drawn from the case studies published in the Frontiers Research Topic entitled: “Evaluation of One Health-ness: insights into interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral integration”. The framework was well received and the case studies gave a good illustration of its potential. Throughout the conference, several initiatives could be identified where the framework is being or planned to be applied in total or in parts. The event thus contributed successfully to the dissemination of the work conducted by NEOH.

  • NEOH and COPBH survey on a potential new One Health / Ecohealth organisation -Please Complete

The European COST funded project: A Network for Evaluation of One Health (NEOH, http://neoh.onehealthglobal.net/), with around 240 members, alongside other initiatives has helped to generate considerable interest and excitement about One Health in Europe. The members of NEOH and some befriended organizations like the Belgian Community of Practice on Biodiversity & Health (COPBH) would like to build this momentum into a sustainable One Health Organization that will be situated in Europe, but will have worldwide membership and activities. It is our goal that this new organization should be useful and valued by people working in One Health, Ecohealth and related fields. For this reason we have developed a questionnaire to collect ideas about useful activities from people who are involved in these fields.

We cordially invite you to complete the questionnaire. It is quite short and should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Please click on this link to open the questionnaire: https://bit.ly/2G3CivF

The questionnaire will close on June 30, 2018.

Please feel free to distribute this questionnaire further in your national and international networks, as we would like to reach as many people as possible.

If you have any questions about this questionnaire please send an email to: john.berezowski@vetsuisse.unibe.ch

On behalf of the NEOH membership we would like to thank you for your time. Your contribution is highly valued!
